Roman Catholic Diocese of La Canea : ウィキペディア英語版 | Roman Catholic Diocese of La Canea The Roman Catholic Diocese of La Canea or Cidonia (Cydonia) was a bishopric on Crete, with see at present Chania, and afterward was twice a Latin titular see. == History == The Ancient city of Kydonia, on Crete, had a bishop no later then the second Byzantine rule (961 AD until 1204 AD), when its name was changed to modern Chania. The Venetians (and shortly Genoans), who conquered Crete, firmly established a Latin diocese. It was suppressed only in 1700.
